Reading

At NCLT we believe that learning to read, and finding a love of reading, is key to the success of all our students. We are finding ways to promote a love of reading across all of our schools, including the replacement and update of phonics schemes and library books. 

We have also come up with own Top Ten Readers for Key Stage 1 and 2 and ensured that all of our schools have copies of these books in their libraries.

 We have also purchased a whole range of diversity books for all of our schools that have been absorbed into our libraries and book shelves.

In the coming terms we are planning to completely redesign and refit the library at Sir James Smiths, deliver author experiences for our pupils and provide high quality training on the teaching of reading to our staff.
